Scott Wittenborn scored twice and assisted once to lead Notre Dame to a 4-2 soccer victory over Sikeston in a SEMO Conference match-up Tuesday at Notre Dame High School.

After a scoreless first half, Nathan LeGrand put Notre Dame up 1-0 with a goal on an assist from Dustin Haupt at the 8-minute mark of the second half.

Wittenborn's first goal of the game extended the lead to 2-0 before Sikeston netted a goal to draw closer at 2-1.

Less than a minute after the Sikeston goal, Notre Dame's Shane Kistner scored on an assist from Wittenborn. The Bulldogs (Notre Dame) added another score on Wittenborn's second tally of the game. Sikeston scored on a penalty kick in the waning minutes to round out the scoring.

Notre Dame's JVs (7-1-2) got both goals from Blake Fisher in a 2-0 shutout of Farmington.

Cape Central 9, Farmington 0

Chris Cole led Cape Central with a three goal "hat trick" and an assist as the Tigers trounced Farmington at the SEMO Intramural Field.

Whit Lynn joined the scoring parade with two goals, while Paul Miller, Jon Mark Thompson, Cody Hill and Chris Jones each scored once. Thompson also picked up two assists.

Cape Central improves to 8-6-2 with the win.

Central's JV team (7-1) also defeated Farmington 9-0.

Heath Orr and Calen Wills scored three goals each for the Tigers.

VOLLEYBALL

Park Hills 15-15

Notre Dame 8-11

Notre Dame (9-7) suffered a disappointing loss to Park Hills on their home court.

On paper, Notre Dame figured to be the better team, but....

"Our passing game was pathetic," said Notre Dame coach Helen Payne. "That was the worst we've looked all season and I promise the fans that they will never see an exhibition like that again."

Jennifer VanGennip and Lynn Obermiller led the Lady Bulldogs with eight and seven kills, respectively.

Leopold 15-15

Zalma 7-10

ZALMA -- Leopold had four players with four or more kills as the Lady Wildcats improved to 13-4-3.

Holly Jansen led the way with seven kills and five blocks, while Courtney Wesbecher and Kyla Horrell each had five kills and Jessica Bollinger had four. Horrell also had three aces.

Laura Jansen and Wendy Vandeven had 11 and 10 assists, respectively.

Leopold's junior varsity won 15-17, 15-11 and 15-9 to go to 11-2-3.

Perryville 15-15

Herculaneum 3-6

HERCULANEUM, Mo. -- The Lady Pirates (7-13) pillaged Herculaneum in straight sets in a Jefferson County Conference match.

Perryville improved to 2-4 in the conference race.

Katie Kutz had an outstanding all-around game as she recorded nine kills, seven digs, three blocks and seven service points with three aces.

Andrea Buerck had six service points and 10 assists, while Natalie Bohnert contributed with four kills, four blocks and nine digs.

Perryville's JV squad won 21-19 and 15-2.

Hillsboro 15-11-15

St. Vincent 13-15-10

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- The Squaws dropped a hard-fought struggle to Hillsboro in three sets.

St. Vincent was led by Danielle Sutterer with 14 kills, Stacie Lane with 31 assists,16 digs and Beth Hennemann with 13 digs.

St. Vincent fell to 9-10-4 on the season.
