CAPE GIRARDEAU — The young Kennett High School volleyball team took a giant leap on Thursday by winning the consolation title at the SEMO Conference tournament.
The 12-team event was conducted at The Sportsplex.
Sikeston sent Kennett to the consolation bracket with a 25-20, 25-11 victory in the opening round.
Then the Indians showed resolve to win a pair of matches en route to taking fifth place overall.
Kennett defeated Oran 25-19-25-13, and followed that with a 25-18, 25-10 conquest over New Madrid County Central.
The Indians improved to 7-9-4, and they will meet NMCC again at New Madrid this coming Monday, Oct. 2.
