CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Hayti arranged a big finale for its best season in years, pummeling Chaffee 36-7 Friday night in Class 1A, District 1 football action.

Ortiz Banks led the Indian fireworks with 186 yards rushing and three touchdowns, including a 55-yard touchdown scamper on Hayti's second play from scrimmage.

Hayti improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in district action. Chaffee fell to 3-6 and 0-2. Hayti will travel to Perryville to face unbeaten St. Vincent (9-0, 2-0) in next Friday's district showdown.

Banks accumulated all his yardage on just nine carries.

"We let him get outside on us," said Chaffee coach Allan Horrell.

Banks added a 42-yard touchdown run on the Indians' second possession of the game.

Charles Gaines also added two touchdowns, rushing for 38 yards on seven carries.

Chaffee, playing without its leading rusher G.P. Glueck, who broke his leg last week, had problems running the ball all night. The Red Devils had just 21 yards rushing on 18 attempts. Jeremy Hahn led Chaffee with 20 yards on 10 carries.

Red Devil quarterback Travis Hanback completed 18 of 34 attempts for 187 yards with one interception. Jeremy Lynn was Chaffee's top receiver with seven catches for 79 yards. Perry Rice had five receptions for 54 yards and Shawn Powderly hauled in four passes for 31 yards.
