Things went mostly according to plan in the second round of the Lady Devils Invitational at Chaffee High School in girls basketball action Tuesday.
Top-seeded Woodland (4-0) defeated No. 4 East Prairie 40-29 and No. 2 Oran (3-0) cruised over third-seeded Kelly 63-36 to secure spots in the championship match, which will be played Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Kelly (2-1) and East Prairie (1-2) will play for third place at 3 p.m.
Woodland's Josie Long scored a game-high 18 points in the victory. Oran was led in scoring by Addie Kielhofner with 21 points. Taylor Nenninger and Allie Cummins added 14 and 13, respectively.
On the consolation side of the bracket, host No. 6 Chaffee thumped seventh-seeded Scott City (0-3) 44-15 and eighth-seeded Puxico upset No. 5 Delta (0-3) 56-26. The Red Devils (2-2) will take on the Indians (1-1) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for the consolation title.

Grace Mirly totaled a game-high 16 points as the state-ranked Crusaders won their first home game of the season against the Raiders.
The Crusaders built a 10-point lead at halftime that proved to be the difference. The teams played to a 25-25 stalemate in the second half.

The Central girls' swimming team made a third-place splash in a four-team meet at Rockwood Summit High School in the suburban St. Louis area.
Freshman Josey Powell won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5 minutes, 56.16 seconds to lead the Tigers. Powell placed second in the 200 individual medley. Josie Young, Maddy McDonald and Maddie Siefert each took second place individually for Central.
