All the area high school events reported Thursday to the Southeast Missourian.

Woodland held Saxony Lutheran to just five field goals in a 53-23 home victory Thursday night in girls high school basketball action.

Taylor Steckman led the Cardinals (7-6) with 15 points, while Kaitlin McCormick, Ashley Acup and Sarah Lincoln each netted eight points apiece.

Lauren Hecht paced the Crusaders with seven points.

No. 1 seed Charleston defeated Kelly to win the third-place game of the Scott-Mississppi Conference tournament.

The Bluejays led by one point at the half, but outscored the Hawks 18-9 in the third quarter to pull away.

Kasuela Cooper led Charleston with 24 points and Jerquawnda Sherrell added 18.

Kristen Powell led No. 3 seed Kelly (7-6) with 17 points. Kayla Hicks and Londyn Backfisch both added nine points in the loss.
