The sixth-sedded Woodland boys basketball team upset second-seeded Advance 67-57 in the Stoddard County Activities Association Conference Tournament semifinals Thursday night in Dexter, Mo.

The Cardinals (9-9) earned a spot in today's 8:30 p.m. championship game against top-seeded Bernie (18-1), which beat fifth-seeded Puxico 61-58 in the other semifinal.

The Hornets had beaten the Cardinals 75-59 in their only previous meeting in the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament.

"It was a great win for us," Woodland coach Scot Davis said. "Advance got us early in Christmas tournament by 16, but coming away from that game I didn't feel we played our best. They destroyed us in the transition game, and tonight we played a better game and were able to limit their transition and we came away on top."

Woodland grabbed the lead from Advance in the first quarter and never trailed again.
