St. Vincent avenged a regular-season loss to St. Pius on a bigger stage Tuesday night as the Indians swept the Lancers 25-23, 25-22 to win the Class 2 District 4 volleyball title at West County High School in Park Hills, Mo.
Chelsie Boxdorfer had seven kills, while Megan Sutterer had six kills for St. Vincent (19-14-1). Amanda Wengert added four kills and led the defense with 15 digs.
St. Vincent, which was seeded second, had lost to top-seeded St. Pius in three games in conference action.
The Indians reached the championship match with a 25-16, 25-9 victory against Grandview earlier Tuesday.
St. Vincent, which lost the Class 2 state championship in 2007, will play in a Class 2 sectional at 3 p.m. Saturday at Clearwater High School.
Class 3 District 2
Perryville advanced to the semifinals with a 25-21, 23-25, 25-11 victory against North County in DeSoto, Mo.
Samantha Amberger led the Pirates (18-11) with eight kills, Catie Oberndorfer spearheaded the defense with 10 digs, and Shea Lieble had eight.
Perryville will face Ste. Genevieve in the semifinals at 6 p.m. today. The championship match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
