Delta senior Machela VanGennip scored a game-high 31 points, but it was not enough to prevent the Bobcats girls basketball team from falling in overtime to visiting St. Vincent on Tuesday night.
St. Vincent, with Katie Mattingly leading the way with 10 points, used a more balanced approach in a 39-37 victory.
St. Vincent's Casey Unterreiner, who finished with eight points, hit a game-tying shot with about 20 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.
Stephanie Hoyt broke a 37-37 deadlock with a basket with about 10 seconds left in overtime.
VanGennip, who scored 21 points in the second half, scored all three points for Delta (1-1) in overtime. St. Vincent (1-1) had seven players find the scoring column, while Delta had just three players score.
