Jackson's Jill Rushin broke the school record in the discus to help the Indians win a four-team meet they hosted Wednesday.

Rushin, who already signed to compete at the University of Missouri next season, hurled the discus 146 feet, 10 inches.

Rushin also won the shot put.

Jackson senior Landon Wachter, who also will compete at Missouri next season, also was a double individual winner, taking first in the 400 and 200.

Saxony Lutheran's Kristin Dippold won the 3,200 to help the Crusaders girls team finish third.

The Notre Dame boys won the title with 102.5 points, barely edging Jackson (101).

Joe Froemsdorf took first in the pole vault to help lead the Bulldogs.

Jackson's Blake Smith jumped 21 feet, 8 1/2 inches to break the school record in the long jump.

Saxony's Trevor Mabuce was a double individual winner with firsts in the 100 and 200.

The Mules downed the host Bulldogs on penalty kicks.

Anne Himmelberg and Lindsey Strieker played a half each in goal during regulation for Notre Dame (1-1). Meghan Dohogne, who usually does not play goalie, took over for the penalty kicks.

"In that situation, she's got some experience on penalty kicks, so we went with her," Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley said.

Poplar Bluff won the shootout 4-3.

Brianne Sanders, Allyson Bradshaw and Katherine Blasiney converted their kicks for Notre Dame.

Kendra Burnett struck out nine to help the Bobcats win their season opener.
