Chaffee leaned on the squeeze in extra innings.

The Red Devils successfully squeeze bunted twice in the eighth inning to knock off Meadow Heights 6-3 at their own round-robin tournament Friday.

Chaffee (9-6) scored four runs in the eighth to back pitcher Andrew Dooley's solid outing.

Dooley pitched all eight innings and struck out 12. He only walked three and allowed one hit.

Meadow Heights hurler Cody Kennedy nearly was as good. He struck out 12 and walked two.

It was the second time in less than a week that Kennedy and Dooley faced each other on the mound. The pitchers locked up in Chaffee's 1-0 win Monday.

Joshua Hendrix went 2 for 3 and drove in a run for Chaffee.

Meadow Heights (7-4) defeated Puxico 10-5 in its first game.

Brent Garland picked up the win on the mound by striking out eight and walking three.

Tanner Bollmann and Seth Garland both connected for a double, while Adam Williams went 2 for 4 in the win.

In other action at the tournament, St. Vincent beat Puxico 10-0.

Crusaders win pair

Saxony Lutheran cruised past Bloomfield 11-0 in six innings before holding off Risco 4-3.

Spencer Sander went 3 for 4 and knocked in three, while Matt Stueve and Ryan Sprandel both plated a pair against Bloomfield.

Jon Winkler earned the win against Risco.

Kris Cook finished with two RBIs.

Notre Dame 4, Kelly 2

Top-seeded Notre Dame fought off a strong challenge from upset-minded Kelly during a quarterfinal game of the SEMO Conference tournament at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame had just three hits off freshman Gabe Felter but took advantage of five walks and three errors.

Trenton St. Cin had two RBIs for the Bulldogs, who scored all their runs in the first three innings.

Brandon Peters pitched a five-hitter, with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Ian Householder went 3 for 3 to lead Kelly, the last seed in the nine-team tournament. Dustin Crowden added two hits for the Hawks, who scored both their runs in the final inning.

Poplar Bluff Invitational

Jackson's girls 3,200 and 1,600 relays took first to secure the girls title.

Landon Wachter won the 800, while Jordan Whitener took first in the pole vault for the Indians.

Jill Rushin picked up first-place finishes in the discus and shot put for Jackson.

The Chaffee girls finished fourth with individual first-place finishes coming from Luisa Boschan in the 1,600 and 3,200.

Kelly's Londyn Backfisch won the 200.

On the boys side, the Indians finished fourth with 89 points.

Central had two first-place finishes and came in fifth with 77 points.

Matt Deisher won the pole vault, while Zach Horrell took first in the discus for the Tigers.
