Sophomore Krista Rhodes scored 16 points to lead the fifth-seeded Woodland Cardinals in a 52-47 upset over the fourth-seeded Puxico Indians in the opening round of the Chaffee Lady Red Devils Invitational Tournament on Monday in Chaffee, Missouri.

The Cardinals led 31-25 at halftime before being outscored by one point in the second half.

Cheyenne Wells and Hannah Scott each poured in 10 points for Woodland (2-0).

Danielle Roberts notched 16 points and Sophia Hancock netted 14 points to pace Puxico (1-1).

The Cardinals will face top-seeded host Chaffee in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Julia Sutterfield recorded a game-high 19 points to lead the Red Devils, who easily disposed of eighth-seeded East Prairie 66-28 in the first quarterfinal of the tournament. Kylie Wilhite added 11 points for Chaffee (3-0).

Dakota Arnold and Megan Chaney bucketed six points apiece for the Eagles (0-4).

On the bottom half of the bracket, second-seeded Oran crushed seventh-seeded Scott City 83-14 to advance to the semifinals. Freshman Leah Cauble scored a game-high 21 points for the Eagles. Ashlyn McIntosh tallied 12 points for Oran (3-0), which held a 41-point lead at halftime.

Morgan Pettit had six points to pace Scott City (1-4).

Oran will face the winner of Wednesday's 5 p.m. quarterfinal featuring third-seeded Kelly (0-1) and sixth-seeded Delta (1-2) in a semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Ahnie Hoff recorded a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds and tallied five steals to pace the Pirates in the loss to the visiting Blue Jays.

The Pirates held a 12-point lead at halftime but the Blue Jays outscored the Pirates 36-20 in the second half.

Kylie Bilek grabbed 12 steals to go along with her six points, and Kirstin Jannin added seven steals and six points for Perryville (1-4).

Hilah Fish scored a game-high 22 points to lead Jefferson (3-1).
