All the local high school results reported Thursday to the Southeast Missourian.

Oak Ridge senior Brett Thomas hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give his team a 5-3 walk-off victory in Thursday's opening round of the Oak Ridge baseball tournament.

The blast was the second of the day for Thomas, who hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead at the time.

Thomas also picked up the win on the mound. He pitched the final three innings after coming on in relief of freshman starter Kelby Brown.

John Bohnsack took the loss for Leopold.

Bohnsack was 3 for 4 at the plate, while teammate Robert Brown was 2 for 4.

Oak Ridge improved to 5-4 this season.

The Blue Jays will face Woodland, which received a first-round bye, at 4 p.m. today in the semifinals.

Saxony Lutheran defeated Meadow Heights 18-2 in the first round.

The Crusaders, who hosted the game, scored seven runs in the second inning.

Clay Roth earned the win by going three innings. He allowed two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.

Roth also had a double and three RBIs, while Gabe Bohnert went 2 for 3 with a double for the Crusaders (8-1).

Saxony Lutheran will take on Delta at 4 p.m. today at Saxony Lutheran.

Colby Brown connected for a triple, and Dustin Thompson was the winner on the mound.

Kendall Page and Darren VanGennip hit back-to-back home runs to help lift the Hornets past the visiting Cubs.

Grant Gray went 2 for 4 with a triple, while Jacob Spears also was 2 for 4 for Advance (5-6).

Gray earned the win on the mound in a complete-game effort. The senior allowed six hits while striking out four and walking two.

Alan Michael Hess took the loss for the Cubs, despite going 3 for 4 with a home run.

Terrance Johnson went 2 for 4 with a double in the loss.

Corey Connell and Travis Simmons both shot 2-over-par 37s to lead the Tigers to victory at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

It only took Leopold three innings to defeat host Oak Ridge 20-2 in the first round.

Mallory James was the winning pitcher, and added two triples for the Wildcats (6-1).

Denai Arzen had a double, while Ashley Keim went 2 for 3 in the win.

Emily Beard was the losing pitcher for the Blue Jays.

Leopold will play Woodland at 4 p.m. today.

Myra Henson was the winning pitcher and went 2 for 3 with four RBIs in Delta's 11-6 win over Meadow Heights.

Courtney Beggs was 3 for 5 with four RBIs, while Samantha Bartels went 4 for 4 with a double for the Bobcats (7-2).

Delta will face Advance at 5:45 p.m. today.

Old Settlement meet

Notre Dame's girls and boys both finished third at Wednesday's meet in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

Elizabeth Kiblinger won the 3,200 and set a school record in the 1,600 for the Bulldogs.

Notre Dame's Myriah Bernard set a school record in the discus and took first in the shot put.

Ellie Sigman took third in the 200 for Chaffee, while Nicole Hemmann finished third in the 100 hurdles for Saxony Lutheran.

On the boys side, Notre Dame won the 800 and 400 relays, while Chaffee won the 3,200.

Duncan Ross won the pole vault for Notre Dame, while Jordan Barber won the 400 dash.

Michael Rutherford took first in the 800 for Chaffee, and Jeremy Engelhart had a second-place finish for Saxony Lutheran in the 110 hurdles.
