Senior Abbie McAlister nailed 13 kills to lead the Notre Dame volleyball team to a vengeful 27-25, 25-20 victory over defending tournament champion and district foe Dexter in the gold bracket championship of the St. Francis Dig for Life Challenge on Saturday at the Show Me Center.
The Bulldogs didn't drop a single set, assisted by Sam Brennan's 13 digs and five kills. Sam Feeney dished out 22 assists, and Briley Bieser served five aces for Notre Dame in their championship match.
"The girls are really excited about it," Notre Dame coach Tara Stroup said. "They played really hard and clean the whole tournament."
The Bulldogs advanced to the title game after edging St. Vincent 25-22, 25-19. McAlister slammed 19 kills, and Feeney recorded 28 assists. Lexi Welter added six kills and Marianna Below notched 10 digs.
Notre Dame trounced Jackson 25-9, 25-15 in the quarterfinals. McAlister tallied 11 kills, Feeney contributed 22 assists and Below recorded 15 digs. McAlister had 10 kills and three aces and Welter notched 20 digs in the Bulldogs' first-round victory over Saxony Lutheran (25-15, 25-13). Notre Dame improved to 13-2-1 on the season.

Farmington's Allison Pingel blasted a two-home run to help lead the Knightettes to the win on the road over the Indians.
Hannah Hight went the distance in the circle to clinch the win. She had three strikeouts and walked one.
Alyson Tucker added a solo home run for Farmington (8-1).
Sophie Wunderlich sustained the loss for Jackson (5-5). She pitched six innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits. She had six strikeouts.

Emma Nelson belted a home run as the Pirates rolled on the road with a win over the Dragons.
Brandi Huber was the winning pitcher. She threw a complete game, gave up two earned runs and recorded three strikeouts and five walks.
Megan Huck went the distance and endured the loss. She allowed six earned runs, had no strikeouts and walked five.
Perryville also played Windsor (Imperial) following the win. The Pirates lost 5-1 to the Owls, which brought their season record to 5-6.

The Wildcats were left still searching for their first win after dropping a doubleheader on the road to the Camels.
Campbell won the first game 10-0 in five innings and then beat the Wildcats 12-5.

Jackson senior Chelsea Drum finished third in the green division with a time of 18 minutes, 6.90 seconds to lead the Indians. Drum crossed the finish line behind Lafayette (Wildwood) senior Anna West in second place (17:48.50) and Ste. Genevieve senior Taylor Werner in first (17:38.80).
On the boys' side, Zalma senior Alex Steinberg posted a seventh-place time of 17 minutes, 58.10 seconds in the white division for the Bulldogs. St. Vincent senior Levi Krauss recorded a ninth-place time of 17:07.50 in the gold division to lead the Indians.

Woodland junior Logan Thomsen was the first runner to cross the finish line to help lead the Cardinals to the championship of the Arcadia Valley Invitational.
Thomsen finished with a time of 16 minutes, 58.76 seconds as Woodland had four of its runners finish in the top five on its way to a first-place team finish. The Cardinals finished 12 points ahead of the host Tigers to clinch the title.
On the girls' side, Saxony Lutheran freshman Etienne Soto recorded a seventh-place time of 22 minutes, 25 seconds to help lead the Crusaders to a third-place finish in the team standings.
