All the local high school events reported Friday to the Southeast Missourian.

Notre Dame's Carly Hopkins and Grace Powderly advanced to the Final Four of the Class 1 state doubles tournament on Friday in Springfield, Mo.

The Bulldogs' duo swept Mt. Vernon's Whitney Wiehle and Abby Rinker 6-1, 6-0 in Friday's first round of sectionals at the Cooper Tennis Complex. Hopkins and Powderly then proceeded to defeat Helias Catholic's Abby Dowden and Catherine Conley 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals to advance to today's state semifinal with Barstow's Jane King and Amelia Smith.

Kennett's doubles team of Heidi Shetley and Alexa McPherson lost their first-round sectional to Pembroke Hill's Caroline Rooney and Ellison Rooney 6-4, 6-2.

VOLLEYBALL

Leopold 20 25 25, Puxico 25 20 22

Senior Emily Seiler nailed nine kills, notched nine digs and served two aces as the Wildcats rallied after dropping the first set to come back and edge the visiting Indians in the three-set thriller in both teams' regular-season finale on Senior Night.

Senior Brittany Garland recorded 10 digs and senior Lexi Vandeven tallied six digs, three kills and three aces for Leopold (14-14). Patience VanderMierden dished out 20 assists and added six digs, two kills and two blocks for the Wildcats.

Puxico closed the regular season with a record of 6-22-1.

JV -- Puxico won 25-21, 25-18

Advance 25 25, Richland 16 12

The Hornets had no problem disposing of the Rebels in the conference road sweep in both teams' regular-season finale.

Advance wrapped up the regular season with a record of 18-10-2 and finished 4-3 in the SCAA Conference. Richland ended its season with a record of 2-22 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

BOYS SOCCER

Jackson 3, Northwest (Cedar Hill) 2 (OT)

Justice Crosnoe netted the game-winning goal unassisted to get the win for the Indians in overtime on the road in Cedar Hill, Missouri.

Aaron Voshage and Liam Gray each scored a goal in regulation for Jackson (13-3-2). Josh Scholl provided the assists for both goals for the Indians.

Goalkeeper Brayden Emmons had eight saves.

Logan Christopher had one goal and one assist to pace Northwest (Cedar Hill). Clayton Meyer scored the other goal for the Lions (10-14).

BOYS SWIMMING

Springfield Invitational (Friday Fights)

Cape Central sophomore Brogan Davis and junior Reagan Ragsdale each placed first in two events at the Friday Fights of the Springfield Invitational.

Davis posted first-place times of 50.25 seconds in the 100 freestyle and 1 minute, 47.25 seconds in the 200 freestyle to lead the Tigers in Friday's opening night at the John H. Foster Natatorium in Springfield, Missouri. Davis has now set state qualifiers in all eight events, a first for any swimmer -- male or female -- at Cape Central High School, according to coach Dayna Powell.

"We were pretty proud for Brogan," she said.

Davis also led the Tigers' first-place team in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:33.11.

Ragsdale took first place in the 100 butterfly (54.40 seconds) and 100 backstroke (54.94 seconds) to pace the Tigers.
