The Notre Dame boys volleyball team won the program's first-ever match by defeating St. Francis Borgia 23-25, 25-14, 27-25 on the road on Saturday.

"It's huge," Notre Dame coach Mark Moore said. "We're super excited. It's been a great start. A lot of these guys played some club volleyball over the winter, so they kind of got some exposure to the game, but they were very excited. I think it's kind of an epic win just to be able to win the very first match ever played by Notre Dame High School. I think people were doubting them at school maybe, and I think they feel good about it."

After dropping the first set, the Bulldogs trailed 9-3 in the second before outscoring Borgia 22-5 over the remainder of the set.

"We righted the ship in a hurry, and took it from there," Moore said.

Rhett Simmons had 11 kills and 16 assists to lead Notre Dame. Ben Dohogne added nine kills, and Tyler Allen had seven. Collin Kramer had 15 assists.

The Bulldogs will play in the St. Louis Preseason Blast Tournament beginning Friday.
