High school roundup: Notre Dame boys basketball team claims tourney crown

Quinn Poythress had a double-double with a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Notre Dame boys basketball team to a 61-43 victory over St. James Academy of Lenexa, Kansas, as the Bulldogs finished with a perfect 3-0 record to win the championship of the 1st Annual Houlihan's Irish Invitational on Saturday in Springfield, Missouri.

Poythress also had three blocked shots, three assists and two steals. Tanner Shively tallied 14 points and six rebounds for Notre Dame, which improved to 11-3.

Mitchell Zubradt led with 13 points for St. James Academy while Zach Thornhill and Collin McKee tossed in 11 points apiece to pace the Thunder.

Jacob Ruder scored 18 points on a pair of treys to lead the Eagles to a victory over the Indians in the championship game of the Lindbergh Round Robin Invitational in the suburban St. Louis area.

Connor Shepard scored 16 points to lead Jackson (9-4), while Braden Wendel added 11 points. The Indians were without senior standout Blake Reynolds, who was recovering from an ankle injury.

Chase Allen had 16 points for Nixa (11-1), while Seth Viebrock added 11 points.
