The Notre Dame baseball team rebounded from its first loss of the season to post a 3-1 victory over Nixa on Saturday in a game played in the St. Louis area. The Notre Dame baseball team rebounded from its first loss of the season to post a 3-1 victory over Nixa on Saturday in a game played in the St. Louis area.

The Bulldogs (9-1) fell at Eureka 3-2 on Friday in a matchup of state No. 1 teams.

The defending Class 3 state champion Bulldogs scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to beat Nixa. One run scored on a wild pitch and another on a walk.

Tanner Hiett improved to 4-0 with a six-hitter. He struck out three and walked one.

Wes Glaus homered for the Bulldogs. He and Jeremy Essner both had two of Notre Dame's five hits.

Oak Ridge tournament

Saxony Lutheran defeated Woodland 5-4 to take third place in the tournament.

The Crusaders hit back-to-back two-out RBI singles to drive in four runs in the bottom of the seventh to overcome a 4-1 deficit.

Gabe Bohnert went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Matt Stueve went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Crusaders (4-4).

Sam Breite pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits, two earned runs and striking out six in the win.

Neil Johnson took the loss on the mound despite going 2 for 3 at the plate for the Cardinals (5-5).

Meadow Heights destroyed Richland 29-0 to finish fifth. The game was stopped after four innings by a time limit.

The Panthers (6-4) banged out 23 hits, including home runs by Brent Garlan and Cody Kennedy. Kennedy also tripled while Garlan had two doubles.

Garlan went 4 for 4 and also pitched a two-hitter, striking out eight and walking none.

Oran split its two games to finish the day at 6-6.

The Eagles lost to Holcomb 7-3 and only recorded one hit in the loss.

Tyler Schlitt took the loss.

The Eagles scored a run in the top of the 11th inning to win their second game, 4-3 against Greenville.

Gabe Kielhofner picked up the win on the mound and went 2 for 5 with an RBI at the plate.

Trenton Hency went 3 for 5 with two RBIs for the Eagles (6-6).

Kickapoo Tournament

Jackson lost 2-0 to Columbia Rock Bridge in the championship game of the Kickapoo Tournament in Springfield, Mo.

Morgan Riddick recorded five saves in the loss.

The Indians (7-3) defeated Parkview 2-0 in their first game of the day.

Hannah Roach and Alex Sotak both netted a goal, while Kasey Crowden recorded an assist.

Riddick recorded the shutout in goal with four saves.

SOFTBALL

Oak Ridge Tournament

Delta defeated Leopold 10-0 in five innings to capture first place in the tournament.

Kendra Burnett allowed only one hit in the shutout for the Bobcats.

Macy Parks had a double and an RBI, while Samantha Bartels connected for an RBI triple.

Taylor Keys went 2 for 3 for the Bobcats as they improved to 9-0 this season.

Elizabeth Eftink recorded Leopold's lone hit, while Ashley Keim took the loss on the mound.

In the first game of the day, Burnett threw a no-hitter for Delta as the Bobcats defeated Meadow Heights 9-0.

Burnett struck out 15 and walked two.

Ashley Glaus went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Jessica Baremore took the loss for Meadow Heights.

Kansas Relays

Jackson's Jill Rushin took first place in the discus and set a school record (150 feet, 7 inches) to become a two-time champion in the event at the prestigious meet.

Rushin took fourth in the shot put (44-5).

Fellow Jackson senior Landon Wachter was fifth in the 400 (58.24 seconds) and sixth in the half mile (2:18.62).

Corey Siebert Invitational

Wynn McClellan had an impressive day for Notre Dame's boys at the major meet hosted by Rockwood Summit in suburban St. Louis.

McClellan won the 1,600 and 3,200, setting a school record in the 1,600.

Also finishing first for Notre Dame was Joe Froemsdorf in the pole vault.

The Bulldogs were ninth as a team with 32 points. Cahokia, Ill., won the 19-school event with 148.5 points.
