Cole Nichols scored the game-winning run and came up on the winning end of a pitcher's duel, as the Bell City baseball team upended Chaffee 1-0 in eight innings Wednesday in Bell City, Missouri.

Bobby Wright provided the walk-off RBI for the Cubs when he drew a walk in the bottom of the eighth inning, sending Nichols across home plate.

Nichols threw a complete eight innings to pick up the pitching win, allowing only four hits and no runs. He struck out seven batters and walked two. He also led Bell City (3-0) at the plate, finishing 2 for 4 with a double.

Austin Copeland pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings for the Red Devils until he was relieved by Landon Tenkhoff. Copeland scattered three hits with one strikeout and four walks.

Tenkhoff was tagged with the loss for Chaffee (4-1). He gave up one hit and one earned run, wrapping up his day with two strikeouts and three walks.

T.J. Archer had a pair of base hits to lead the Red Devils on offense.

Jarrett Newell earned the win on the mound and helped himself at the plate with a home run, leading the Indians in the shutout victory over the Raiders at home.

Newell went six innings, allowing only one hit with five strikeouts and four walks. Gavon Turner pitched an inning of relief for Jackson (5-0), striking out three of the five batters he faced.

Colten Weber and Newell each finished 2 for 3 at the plate for the Indians. Weber had a double, while teammate Tyler Knight had a triple.

Eric Lodholtz took the pitching loss for North County (0-2). He gave up five hits and four runs -- two earned -- and had six strikeouts and two walks in four innings of relief.

Pitchers Blake Beacham and Alex Guzman combined to allow only one run, leading the Mules in the conference win over the Cardinals in Marble Hill, Missouri.

Beacham got the start on the mound for Bernie (1-0, 1-0 Stoddard County Activities Association Conference), allowing only one hit with eight strikeouts and one walk. He went 3 2/3 innings before being replaced by Guzman, who gave up five hits and one earned run in 3 1/3 innings of work.

Nate Dillinger finished 2 for 2 with a double to lead the Mules at the plate.

Connor Goodwin took the pitching loss for Woodland (1-2, 1-1). He threw two innings, struck out one, walked one and gave up six hits and eight runs -- two earned. Keegan Cooper pitched five innings of relief for the Cardinals. He allowed five hits and one earned run and had three strikeouts and two walks.

Goodwin had a double to lead Woodland's offense.

Madison Cover went 3 for 3 with a double to lead Woodland (3-0, 2-0 Stoddard County Activities Association Conference) at the plate. Mara Grindstaff and Johna Martin each added a pair of hits, including one double apiece.

Macki Altenthal earned the win in the circle for the Cardinals with seven strikeouts and two walks. She pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up two hits and didn't allow a run.

Bernie (0-1, 0-1) was led on offense by Addie Shelton, who finished 2 for 3.
