High school roundup: Mills leads Panthers to victory over Naylor

Meadow Heights rode a balanced scoring attack to the title game at the North County girls basketball tournament.

The Panthers had five players score at least eight points in their 54-47 victory over Naylor in Tuesday's semifinals.

Jillian Mills led the way with 12 points and nine rebounds before fouling out. Gina Cureton pulled down 11 rebounds, while Erin Bollmann had nine for Meadow Heights (5-2).

The Panthers shot 76 percent (16 of 21) from the free-throw line compared to 50 percent (13 of 26) for Naylor.

Meadow Heights will face North County in today's 4 p.m. title game.

Christmas Classic

Eagle Ridge dropped a pair of games at the CAGSTL Christmas Classic.

The Eagles lost to Patriot Christian 41-13 before losing to North County Christian 38-17.

Susanna Cohen led Eagle Ridge (2-9) in both games. She scored six points against Patriot then nine against North County.
