High school roundup: Mayo leads Advance baseball to 1-0 victory

Winning pitcher Dawson Mayo went the distance on the mound and had one of Advance's two hits in a 1-0 victory over visiting Woodland in high school baseball action Thursday.

Mayo allowed no runs on four hits, struck out eight and walked four for Advance (12-12). He had a triple at the plate.

Landon Johnson was the losing pitcher. He threw a complete game and gave up one earned run on two hits, struck out five and walked two.

Ben McCormick had a triple to pace Woodland (12-6).

The Rams scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning as Scott City blew open a close road contest.

Zach Carlyle went 4 for 5 to pace a 14-hit attack for Scott City (12-11).

Eric Uhrhan got the win on the mound. He went the distance and gave up no earned runs on two hits and struck out three. Uhrhan had two hits, as did teammates Trent Pobst and Tyler Rogers.

Mason Douglas endured the loss. He pitched five innings and allowed six earned runs on nine hits with one strikeout and one walk.

Nathan Watson had a double for Twin Rivers (6-13).

Nathan Hurst had a triple and a double among his three hits for Saxony Lutheran (9-10). Jack Lake and Chase Steffens both added two hits.

Stephen Christian took the loss for East Prairie (5-14). He pitched five innings and allowed three earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and three walks.

Alex Spears scored two goals and had one assist as the Pirates picked up the win on the road.

Brooke Hogard, Macie Christisen and Amiee More added one goal apiece for Perryville (11-8-1).

Maria Thieret, Brooke Moll, Allison Moldenhauer and Morgan French tallied one assist each for the Pirates.

Goalkeeper Taylor Pingel made four saves.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Rhett Simmons tallied nine kills and 10 assists to lead the Bulldogs to victory on the road.

Tyler Allen added seven kills and John Fennewald had five for Notre Dame (9-6).

Collin Kramer dished out 11 assists for the Bulldogs.
