All the local high school events reported Wednesday to the Southeast Missourian.

Aaron Voshage, Josh Scholl and Ian Vaughn netted two goals apiece to lead the Jackson boys soccer team to a 7-0 win over rival Central at home on Wednesday.

Hunter Kelpe added one goal for Jackson (11-3-2). Liam Gray recorded three assists while Grayson Ward and Hunter Crowden each contributed one assist for the Indians.

"Anytime we can come out 7-0 against Cape [Central] ... It's always a big rivalry," Jackson coach Zach Walton said. "It's good to see our guys come out and play well."

Goalkeeper Brayden Emmons had three saves in the shutout.

Cape Central fell to 5-15 with the loss.

JV -- Jackson won 5-0

Farmington 4, Perryville 1

Eann Bergman scored the lone goal on an assist from Isaac Ellsworth as the Knights dealt the host Pirates their third loss of the season.

Goalkeeper Trent Unterreiner had seven saves for Perryville (16-3).

Farmington improved to 17-1-2 with the win.

FALL SOFTBALL

Hillsboro 4, Jackson 0

Mallorie Maintz hit a double and reached base two of her three times at the plate but it was not enough as the fifth-seeded Indians fell to the fourth-seeded host Hawks in the opening round of the Class 4 District 1 Tournament.

Sophie Wunderlich went the distance and sustained the loss in the circle for Jackson. She allowed one earned run, struck out four and walked one. The Indians wrapped up the season with a record of 12-14.

Emma Nichols was the winning pitcher to lead Hillsboro (14-12). She threw a complete game, struck out two and walked one.

The Hawks will face top-seeded Farmington (18-5) in a semifinal today at 4:30 p.m.

Poplar Bluff 10, Cape Central 4

Jaeden Kight hit a triple to pace the sixth-seeded Tigers in their season-ending quarterfinal loss to the third-seeded Mules in the Class 4 District 1 Tournament.

Maggie Boxdorfer was tagged with the loss in the circle for Cape Central. She pitched a complete game and gave up seven earned runs. She had one strikeout and walked two as the Tigers finished the season with a record of 6-20.

Shelby Sievers was the winning pitcher for Poplar Bluff (20-6). She threw a complete game and allowed two earned runs. She recorded nine strikeouts and walked two.

Bailey Brooks hit a double and drove in three runs while Jordyn Caldwell batted in two runs for the Mules, who advanced to tonight's 6:30 p.m. semifinal against second-seeded Seckman (16-9).

Alexis Dock got on base both of her two times at the plate and drove in three runs as the second-seeded Hawks downed the third-seeded Crusaders to book a spot in tonight's Class 2 District 1 Tournament championship game.

Dock also went the distance in the circle to get the win for Kelly (16-9). She allowed one earned run, struck out four and walked two.

The Hawks will face top-seeded host Portageville (21-5) at 5 p.m. today. The Bulldogs, who downed fourth-seeded Twin Rivers 10-0 to advance to the championship game, defeated Kelly 8-0 on the Hawks' home field earlier in the season on September 17, but Coach Rhonda Ratledge has faith in her team.

"I think our girls have come a long way since midseason and that's where you want to be at this time of the year," she said. "The girls are hitting well and seeing the ball well... The girls are confident and ready to face them again."

Grace Mirly took the pitching loss for Saxony Lutheran, which ended its season with a record of 13-8. The Crusaders advanced to the semifinals following a 16-1 rout of sixth-seeded East Prairie (1-12).

Twin Rivers (9-10) beat fifth-seeded Puxico (3-13) 8-2 in Wednesday's other quarterfinal.

The fourth-seeded Blue Jays disposed of the fifth-seeded winless Tigers in the opening round of the Mississippi Valley Conference.

Oak Ridge (3-17) advanced to tonight's semifinal with four-time defending tournament champion and host Leopold (11-12).

Lexie King added eight kills and eight digs for Jackson (15-9-1, 3-2 SEMO Conference). Kali Beussink notched 13 digs and Malary Burger dished out 22 assists and had nine digs for the Indians.

Hannah Shemonia and Chloie Clayton each notched five digs to pace Scott City (6-22, 1-7). Kati Blattel added two kills for the Rams.
