The Jackson boys soccer team exploded Wednesday night for a huge revenge victory over rival Central.
Jackson routed the visiting Tigers 5-0, less than a month after Central slipped past the Indians 3-2 in double overtime on Sept. 24 in Cape Girardeau.
Kendall Townsend scored three goals for the Indians, who improved to 7-10-1.
Liam Gray had a goal and three assists for Jackson, while Josh Scholl had a goal and an assist. Mikey Depew added an assist.
Goalkeepers Justin Darnell and Braden Emmons shared the shutout as Central fell to 11-11.
"Tonight we just finished and put the ball in the back of net," said Jackson coach Zack Walton, whose young squad has come on strong late in the season.
JV -- Jackson won 1-0.
Hunter Coe and Dustin Lorenz each scored three goals to lead host Saxony.
Ryan Palmer had two assists for the Crusaders (4-13), while Coe and Luke each added one assist.
Chelsea Fowler had eight kills to lead the Indians (8-16-3) in an easy home over the Rams (2-22-1).
Autumn Reid added six kills while Hailey Mouser notched five kills and nine digs for Jackson.
McKinzie Scott dished out 14 assists and Kayla Thurman and Macey Huff each served three aces.
JV -- Jackson won 25-15, 25-19.
Fourth-seeded Meadow Heights downed No. 5 Marquand-Zion 25-21, 25-19 in a quarterfinal on the opening night of the Mississippi Valley Conference Tournament at Zalma High School.
The Panthers (8-13-2) will take on top-seeded Leopold (24-4) today at 7 p.m. in the semifinals.
No. 3 Oak Ridge cruised past sixth-seeded host Zalma (2-19-2) 25-15, 25-8 in another quarterfinal.
The Blue Jays (10-11-2) will face second-seeded Greenville (12-9-1) at 8 p.m. today in the other semifinal.
Four teams will compete in today's semifinals in the Stoddard County Activities Association Tournament at Bernie High School.
Top-seeded Dexter (24-3) will take on No. 4 Advance (14-11-2) at 7 p.m.
Dexter advanced to the semifinals with a 25-1, 25-9 rout of eighth-seeded Richland while Advance squeezed out a 25-21, 25-23 win over No. 5 Puxico.
Second-seeded Woodland (20-6-1) will face No. 3 Bernie (15-9-2) in the second semifinal at 8 p.m.
Woodland posted a 25-13, 25-9 win over No. 7 Bell City and Bernie nipped sixth-seeded Bloomfield 25-17, 25-22 to advance to the semifinals.
The Bulldogs placed first in nine events to win a tri-meet at the Central Municipal Pool.
Jackson Voss (50 freestyle, 500 freestyle) and Zach Smith (100 freestyle, 200 freestyle) each picked up two individual wins for the Bulldogs.
