The Jackson girls soccer team scraped past visiting St. Vincent 2-1 in penalty kicks in a late-season battle of the Indians.
Jackson (17-2) got a regulation goal from striker Cassidi Tomsu off a Grace Pehle assist, and then edged out the spot-kick battle 4-3.
Faith Kapp scored the goal for St. Vincent (12-8)
Sam Schnicker had four saves in goal for Jackson.
St. Vincent goalkeeper Courtney Brewer kept her team in the contest with 19 saves.
The Tigers were only able to muster one run in the final inning to drop their final regular-season game on the road to the Dragons.
Nick Wiggs pitched three innings and took loss for Cape Girardeau Central (13-12). He allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, struck out three and walked five batters.
Drew Toombs was the winning pitcher for Ste. Genevieve (12-12). He threw five innings and gave up no runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
Cape Central, seeded fourth, opens Class 5 District 1 Tournament action at 11 a.m. Saturday against fifth-seeded Hillsboro at VFW Memorial Field in Sikeston, Mo.
