Jackson freshman Sicily Johnston helped her way to a win in the circle by belting a two-run in the top of the eighth inning for a 5-3 softball victory over host Chaffee on Tuesday,

Johnston threw five innings and gave up no runs on four hits, struck out two and walked one.

Erica Gray added a triple for Jackson (15-9).

Carleigh Burnett took the loss in the circle. She went the distance and allowed three earned runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

Hannah Seyer doubled to pace Chaffee (6-11).

It was the second consecutive loss for the Red Devils, who lost to St. Pius X 4-1 on Wednesday on the road in Festus, Missouri.

The Hawks got out to an early lead and never allowed the Bulldogs to come close in the home victory.

Alexis Dock was the winning pitcher. She allowed one earned run on four hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks for Kelly (18-3).

Madison Smith took the loss in the circle. She walked three and had no strikeouts for Sikeston (10-11).

Morgan LeDure had three of Kelly's eight hits.

Mabree Stone had 24 service points in the first set as the state-ranked Mules crushed the Bulldogs in a romp at home.

Bernie improved to 12-4. Zalma fell to 2-14-3.

Advance 21 25 25 Puxico 25 17 18

Freshman Alanis Below hammered 13 kills and put up five blocks as the Hornets notched their 10th win of the season on the road.

Denae Cato and Lexis Garner each recorded 13 digs for Advance (10-10-2). Ashtyn Driskill dished out 17 assists and Hannah Clark served three aces to pace the Hornets.

Puxico fell to 6-10-1.

Leopold 25 25 Oran 7 9

Caitlin Petty tallied nine assists, seven kills and two aces as the Wildcats coasted to the road win.

Bailee Cope served eight aces and smashed seven kills for Leopold (15-2-3). Ashlyn Bucher added six kills and two digs, while Emily Seiler dished out eight assists.

The Eagles (3-11) picked up their third win over Oak Ridge on Wednesday in a 20-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-19 best three-out-of-five game.

Notre Dame 25 25 Jackson 7 15

Abbie McAlister had 10 service points in the first set, five aces and five kills as the Bulldogs swept the road match.

Briley Bieser added five kills for Notre Dame (13-4-1), while Sam Feeney recorded 13 assists and nine digs.

Jackson fell to 7-8-2.

Madison LeGrand hammered seven kills to lead the Blue Jays to the conference win at home.

Leah Puchbauer added five kills for Oak Ridge (2-11-3).

Natalie Woods tallied five kills as the visiting Rams rebounded from a loss in the opening set.

Anna Kern dished out six assists for Scott City (5-10). Bella Bowers served three aces and Kristin Kinder notched two digs to pace the Rams defensively.

Bell City fell to 3-12-2.

Bloomfield 25 25 Woodland 18 19

The host Wildcats swept the conference match to claim their 10th win of the season.

Bloomfield improved to 10-6-1. Woodland dropped to 11-9-1.

GIRLS TENNIS

Dexter 7, Jackson 2

The Indians won one singles and one doubles match as they ended their regular season with a loss on the road.

Both teams begin district play next week. Third-seeded Jackson (7-10) opens Class 2 District 1 tournament play Tuesday at Sikeston against second-seeded Central (4-10). Third-seeded Dexter (11-4) begins Class 1 District 1 tournament action Monday at Notre Dame against sixth-seeded Charleston (0-12).
