De Soto could muster just two hits, but one was a fifth-inning grand slam as it dealt host Notre Dame a 5-2 softball loss Monday.
The loss was the first of the season for the Bulldogs, who fell to 7-1.
Tiffany Wood and Conner Elfrink had a double apiece for Notre Dame. Nikki Peters took the loss in the circle. She gave up just two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. All five of De Soto's runs were unearned as the Bulldogs committed five errors in the game.
Brittney Krodinger belted the grand slam for De Soto.

Casey Unterreiner went 3 for 4 at the plate with three RBIs to help the host Indians to their first win of the season.
Pitcher Isabel Hotop picked up the win in the circle for St. Vincent (1-2). She allowed five hits and struck out two.
Grace Mirly went 2 for 3 to pace the Crusaders.

Taylor Feeney had six kills and three aces in the Bulldogs' road win.
Lydia Goodson added five kills, while Annie Siebert and Kaitlin Welter both had four kills for Notre Dame (5-1-1). Welter also dished out nine assists. Karsen Powers recorded 11 digs and Madeline Rosenquist had eight.
Taylor Feeney led the Bulldogs with six kills and three aces.
The Rams fell to 0-2.
The host Eagles (1-1) picked up their first win of the season against the Blue Jays.
