The Crusaders needed three games to defeat Meadow Heights in their Class 1 District 3 volleyball opener Monday in Advance, Mo.
Holly Schermann led Saxony Lutheran with nine kills, 25 digs and three aces in its 20-25, 25-23, 25-14 victory.
Claire Grebing also added 25 digs, while Cassie Simpher put down three blocks for the winners.
Rachel Engelhart recorded 13 assists in the win.
The Crusaders, the No. 5 seed, will face Leopold at 5:30 p.m. today in a semifinal. The winner will play for the title at 8 p.m. today in Advance.
No other scores from the district were reported.
Class 2 District 2
Woodland needed three games to knock off Clearwater in their district opener in Bloomfield, Mo.
Kaitlin McCormick smacked 12 kills, while Kendra Pinkley added six in the Cardinals' 25-19, 23-25, 25-12 win. Woodland advanced to face top-seeded Scott City, the No. 1-ranked team in the state in Class 2, in today's 4 p.m. semifinal.
Becky Brannon put up 22 assists, while Ashley Acup chipped in 19 digs for Woodland (10-14).
BOYS SOCCER
Jackson 4, Perryville 0
Law Duncan scored a pair of goals to lead the host Indians to victory.
Todd Heuring and Brice Steger collected a goal apiece as Jackson improved to 15-5.
Dylan Blaylock and Ryan Schlick earned assists.
Cody Boehme and Austin Baker shared the shutout in goal.
