Braden Cox threw a complete game, struck out nine and held his opponents to six hits and one unearned run as the Scott City baseball team (7-10) defeated Woodland 6-1 at home.

Cox also helped his own cause with a double that drove in a run in the fourth.

Woodland's Devon Ritter went 3 for 4 for the Cardinals in the loss.

Devon Yahn and Storm Estes both went 2 for 2 to help the Red Devils (13-2) to a win at home on Wednesday.

Bruce Simmons picked up the win for the Bluejays (7-7) on the road.

Simmons struck out 12 and gave up five runs in five innings.

Simmons also had a double and went 2 for 5.

For the Crusaders, Jack Lake and Tyler Dowdy each had a double. Dowdy and Paris Johnson led all Saxony hitters with two hits.

Down 12-5 after four innings, the Crusaders scored five runs in the seventh but came up one run short of tying the game.
