Freshman quarterback Cody Payne's varsity football debut for Chaffee ended in a 42-6 loss to Portageville at home Friday night.
Payne was 11 of 23 for 96 yards after stepping in for injured quarterback Jordan Yahn.
Trevor Cannon ran for a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to record the Red Devils' only score. Portageville recorded all its points in the first half.
Cannon finished with four carries for 10 yards.
Alex Davie had four catches for 40 yards, while Andrew Terhune caught three passes for 31 yards in the loss.
Zach Dannenmueller caught one pass for 15 yards and Tyson Estes had two catches for 5 yards.
Mike Rutherford had one catch for 5 yards for the Red Devils (0-2).
Jackson and Notre Dame advanced to the championship game of the Notre Dame SoccerFest tournament.
The Indians defeated Marion 2-1 then the Bulldogs knocked off Carbondale 2-0.
James Holloway recorded the shutout for Notre Dame.
Aaron Arnzen and Christian Essner both netted a goal for the Bulldogs, while Jonathan Lynch and Matthew Parsons recorded the assists.
In the consolation bracket, Saxony Lutheran shut out Murray, Ky., for a 2-0 win, while Central defeated Anna-Jonesboro 3-1.
Host Notre Dame defeated St. Vincent 25-22, 25-14 in the first day of pool play.
Allyson Bradshaw and Brooke Bohnert both had five kills for the Bulldogs.
Shannon Brennan recorded 11 assists and two service aces, while Haley Wengert added 11 digs.
The Bulldogs then defeated Central 25-12, 25-14.
Brennan had six assists, four kills and two aces in the win.
Bradshaw had five kills while Bohnert had four.
In other pool play action, Perryville defeated Ste. Genevieve 25-18, 25-12.
Natalie Gremaud led the Pirates with six kills, while Cortnea Blunkett recorded six assists.
The Pirates then beat Bell City 25-5, 25-18.
Hannah Kutz had 21 service points with eight aces, while Marissa Erwin had eight kills and two blocks in the win.
Central split with Bishop DuBourg, winning the first game 25-17 before losing 24-26 in the second.
Bell City edged Marshfield 26-24, 25-22.
Oran split games in pool play, defeating Ste. Genevieve but falling to Cobden, Ill.
The Eagles defeated the Dragons 23-5 in four innings.
Amanda Williams and Halle Woodfin both connected for a double and went 2 for 4 in the win.
Molly McConnell went 3 for 4, while Abbey Anderson added a pair of hits.
Cobden then defeated the Eagles 9-7.
Williams and Taylor Nenninger both connected for a double in the loss.
