All the area high school events reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

Alex Davie struck out 11 batters and walked just one as the Chaffee baseball team rolled past visiting Bloomfield 7-0 on Monday.

Davie (2-1) allowed five hits in the complete-game shutout.

Trevor Cannon went 3 for 3 and Alex Crowe went 2 for 2 as Chaffee (4-5) had nine hits.

Defending Class 3 state champion Notre Dame continued to roll as the Bulldogs crushed visiting Poplar Bluff via the run rule.

The Bulldogs (7-0) scored 10 runs in the first inning and led 18-0 after three innings.

Notre Dame pounded out 18 hits, including grand slams by Jake Pewitt and Wesley Glaus. Glaus added a two-run double as the Bulldogs had five doubles and two triples.

Coby Holland went 3 for 3, while Glaus went 3 for 4. Getting two hits apiece were Pewitt, Colton Young, Jimmy Obermark, Mark Hagedorn and Ethan Essner. Obermark and Essner tripled.

Young (3-0) was the winning pitcher.

The Rams scored 11 runs in the first inning on their way to a five-inning rout of visiting Egyptian (Ill.).

Scott City (5-2) drew eight walks and lashed five hits in the 11-run outburst.

Winning pitcher Landon Robert allowed two hits. Robert matched that total at the plate by going 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Ryan Fortner added a triple and three RBIs, while Austin Atchley also had a triple.

The Rams had nine hits in the game.

Delta (2-5) was paced offensively by Shelby Kight and Tanner Schabbing, who both went 2 for 3. Kight tripled.

Burnett also pitched three perfect innings to finish off the victory, striking out seven.

Myra Henson went 2 for 3 with a triple and notched the win by working the first four innings. She allowed Woodland's only hit, walked two and struck out five.

Courtney Beggs added a two-run triple for Delta.

GOLF Poplar Bluff Invitational

Trent Hillis shot a 1-over 72 to earn medalist and Carr Vernon was one stroke back to lead Poplar Bluff to victory in its own 12-team tournament at Westwood Hills Country Club in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

The Mules finished at 306, 17 shots ahead of Notre Dame (323). Jackson (332) placed fourth and Central (352) finished seventh.

Jackson's Tanner Werner placed sixth individually with a 78. Jake Seabaugh led Notre Dame with an 80, while Corey Fowler paced Central with an 85.
