The second-seeded and host Chaffee Red Devils won their first-round game of the Lady Red Devil Invitational, defeating rival Scott City 56-42 on Monday in girls basketball action.

Julia Sutterfield scored a game-high 17 points against the seventh-seeded Rams.

Kylie Wilhite recorded 15 points and Jordan Pruitt added 14 points for Chaffee (3-0).

Anna Kern led Scott City (0-3) with 15 points.

In other first-round games, top-seeded Kelly defeated eighth-seeded East Prairie 55-17 and fifth-seeded Puxico topped fourth-seeded Oran 51-47.

Tessa Johnson scored 18 points for Kelly, while Kaylee Scherer recorded 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Kelly improved to 2-0, while East Prairie fell to 0-4.

Oran's Allie Cummings tallied a game-high 19 points in the loss to Puxico. Ashlyn McIntosh added 12 points for the Eagles (1-1).

Katelyn Pierre notched 13 points and Danielle Roberts chipped in 10 points for Puxico (2-0).

Oran will face East Prairie at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in a consolation semifinal. Kelly and Puxico will follow in a championship semifinal at 8 p.m.

Chaffee will face the winner of Wednesday's final first-round game between third-seeded Woodland and sixth-seeded Delta.
