High school roundup: Chaffee girls basketball team ends skid at Lady Royals Classic

The Chaffee girls snapped a four-game losing streak and advanced to the consolation semifinals of the the Lady Royals Christmas Classic with a 46-37 victory over Senath-Hornersville on Monday at Twin Rivers High School in Broseley, Missouri.

Julia Sutterfield scored 14 points and Mary Beth Knutson added 13 for the Red Devils (5-4), who led 15-13 after one quarter before extending the advantage to 10 points, 32-22, by halftime. Chaffee will play in the consolation semifinals today as it attempts to reach Wednesday's 3 p.m. final.

Maggie Crossno paced Senath-Hornersville with 14 points.

In another consolation quarterfinal, Portageville defeated Kelly 57-43.

Tori Duenne led Kelly with a game-high 19 points.

Adrienne Duncan netted 15 points for Portageville.

Valle Catholic's Connor Basler scored 32 points as the Warriors handily defeated the visiting Indians.

Tyler Monier scored a team-high 16 points for St. Vincent (2-5).

The Warriors outscored St. Vincent 28-12 in the second quarter to take a 44-22 lead into halftime.

St. Vincent returns to action Monday in the Warrior Winter Classic, hosted by Valle. The Indians will play Jefferson at 6 p.m. in the first round.
