The Central boys basketball team captured the championship of the Lutheran South round-robin tournament with a 54-49 victory over the host Lancers on Saturday.

The Tigers, who went 3-0 in the season-opening tournament, trailed 32-26 at halftime but outscored the Lancers 15-3 in the third quarter to seize the lead.

Kway'Chon Chisom led the way with 17 points for Central while Andre Statam added 15.

Statam was named to the all-tournament team, and teammate Al Young, who had seven points on Saturday, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Lutheran South 61, Central 50

The Tigers finished the Lutheran South round-robin tournament 1-2 after a loss to the host Lancers.

The game featured a whopping 53 fouls called and 67 free throws taken.

Central finished 16 of 36 at the line while Lutheran South made 19 of 31 attempts.

Moriah Terry led Central with 17 points and Maddie Daum added 12.

Parkway South Tournament

The Jackson wrestling team won five duals on its way to the overall championship at the 12-team Parkway South Tournament, which was held on Friday and Saturday.

The Indians defeated Francis Howell North 78-4, Parkway South 49-24, Kirkwood 70-9, Rockbridge (Columbia) 42-22 and Saint Louis University High 55-15.

Jackson finished with an overall score of 439. Lafayette was second with 401 points followed by Francis Howell (362), McCluer North (257) and Rockbridge (240).

Payne Guilliams (132 pounds), Clayton Collier (152) and Josh Stone (195) all captured individual championships for the Indians.

Isaac Baker (113) and Zack Norrick (160) finished second in their weight class; Gus Guilliams (106), Jake Byrd (126), Carson McCord (170) and Preston Hobeck (HWT) took third; and Micah Collier (145), Bryce Dickerson (182) and Jameson McCullough (220) finished fourth.

Principia Individuals Tournament

Notre Dame's Noah Huff won four matches by fall on his way to claiming the 120-pound division at the Pricipia Individuals Tournament. His longest challenge came in the championship, when he defeated St. Clair's Maple Thomas in 2 minutes, 21 seconds.
