All the local high school events reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

The Central boys basketball team had a dominating showing as it opened its season with a 45-point victory Monday in the first round of the Potosi tournament.

The Tigers built a 28-point halftime lead and went on to defeat host Potosi 61-16.

T.J. Tisdell led the Tigers (1-0) with 17 points, while Vance Toole had two 3-pointers and 12 points.

The Tigers will play the winner of the St. Pius vs. Fredericktown contest on Thursday.

St. Vincent rolled past No. 6 seed Grandview in the Crystal City tournament.

Sean Martin led the Indians, the No. 3 seed, with 17 points in the first-round win.

Mark Kutz had 12 points, and Tim Schumer added 10 points for the Indians (1-0).

The Indians will face Saxony Lutheran at 6 p.m. today.

Woodland tournament

Perryville downed Zalma 62-23 in the first round of the Woodland tournament.

Jake Dobbelare led the top-seeded Pirates (1-0) with 17 points, while Bryce Weibrecht added 13.

Jared Theiret added 12 points in the win.

The Pirates held eighth-seeded Zalma scoreless in the second quarter.

Austin Sitze led Zalma with eight points.

Second-seeded Leopold held seventh-seeded Woodland to just eight second-half points in a 62-20 victory.

Cameron Davis paced the Wildcats with 18 points, while Kyle Stroder added 16 points.

Lance Yount, Codey Miles and Dylan Miller all had six points in the loss for the Cardinals (0-1).

Oak Ridge debuted with a 69-46 win against Delta.

Ryan Below and Corvin Schoen each had 15 points for fourth-seeded Oak Ridge, while Ben Stewart added 11 points.

Greg Brawley led fifth-seeded Delta with 15 points, including three 3-pointers.

The opening round concludes today when third-seeded Scott City plays sixth-seeded Meadow Heights at 6 p.m.
