All the local high school events reported Friday to the Southeast Missourian.

Al Young scored 29 points as the Cape Central boys basketball team upped its winning streak to 11 games with a 73-64 road win against Poplar Bluff on Friday night.

Austin Parker sank 13 points for Cape Central (14-4, 2-0 SEMO Conference), which held a seven-point lead at halftime. The Mules attempted to stage a second-half comeback but fell short in their effort as the Tigers outscored the hosts by two points to get the win.

Freshman Marcedus Leech nailed a game-high 31 points for Poplar Bluff (10-6, 0-1). Willie Lucas tossed in 17 points for the Mules.

Dylan Keller recorded a game-high 18 points to lead Scott City (12-7) while Trent Pobst added 15 points and Braden Cox tossed in 13 points for the Rams.

Sam Brennan broke loose for a game-high 28 points to lead the sixth-seeded Bulldogs to victory over the seventh-seeded host Saints in a consolation semifinal of the Queen of Hearts Tournament in the suburban St. Louis area.

Lexi Welter recorded 10 rebounds, five steals and five points for Notre Dame (7-10), which led by 10 points at halftime and outscored the Saints by 12 points in the second half to come away with the win.

Emma Mueller finished with 12 points to pace Villa Duchesne (4-10).

The Bulldogs will face Rosati-Kain for the consolation title at 11:30 a.m. today. The eighth-seeded Kougars (3-12) upset fifth-seeded Metro Academic & Classical (10-9) 49-44 in double overtime in Friday's earlier consolation semifinal to advance.

Senior Madison Heisserer was the lone first-place victor as the Bulldogs fell in a dual with the Bombers in the suburban St. Louis area.

Heisserer won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 6.85 seconds. She also posted a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:04.84).
