All the local high school events reported Tuesday to the Southeast Missourian.

Lane Below threw a one-hitter and drove in two runs as Advance opened its baseball season with a 3-1 home victory over East Prairie on Tuesday.

Below struck out nine batters and allowed just a single run in the seventh.

The senior had two of the Hornets' nine hits.

Levi Branam suffered the loss on the mound for East Prairie (1-2).

Bloomfield 6, Oran 5

The defending Class 1 state champion Eagles committed five errors as they lost their season debut at home.

Ben Heuring had two hits and Preston Hahn added a double for the Eagles, who outhit Bloomfield 8-4.

Hahn took the loss on the mound, allowing one earned run on two hits over three innings. He struck out two batters and walked four.

Noah Vandiver pitched three innings for the win. He allowed four hits, walked two and struck out four.

Kaleb Thomley drove in two runs for Bloomfield (1-0), which scored five runs over the final two innings.

Zach Carlyle belted two doubles and drove in four runs to lead the Rams to a home victory.

Eric Uhrhan threw a complete game, allowing four hits and two earned runs. He struck out three batters and walked seven.

Layne Spies added a double for Scott City (2-3).

Nate Finney had two hits for Bell City (0-1).

Jordan Pavy had a home run and double for Risco (0-2).

Andrew Puchbauer belted a home run and drove in five runs as the Blue Jays soared to victory at home in six innings.

Ryan Below also had a big day for Oak Ridge, going 4 for 4 with a double and three RBIs.

Jake LeGrand picked up the win on the mound with a complete game. He struck out 11, allowed one earned run and one walk. He also had two hits and drove in a run for Oak Ridge (1-1).

Losing pitcher Brendan Welker had a double for Meadow Heights (0-3).

Notre Dame, led by defending Class 3 state champion Jack Litzelfelner, recorded a 10-shot victory in a four-team meet at Bent Creek Golf Course.

Litzelfelner, a sophomore, shot an even-par 36 to lead the Bulldogs and finish one stroke behind medalist Kobe Franklin of Central.

Eli Pike carded a 3-over 39 to lead runner-up Jackson.
