The fourth-seeded Advance volleyball team dealt a vengeful victory to fifth-seeded Bloomfield, winning 21-25, 26-24, 25-13 in the opening round of the Stoddard County Activities Association (SCAA) Conference Tournament on Tuesday in Dexter, Missouri.

The Wildcats defeated the Hornets in three sets a week ago on the Bloomfield's home court a few days after the tournament seeding meeting.

Advance (15-8-2) will take on top-seeded and two-time defending tournament champion Dexter in a semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Bearcats crushed eighth-seeded Richland in Tuesday's final quarterfinal of the night to advance.

Woodland 25 25, Bell City 19 12

Krista Rhodes recorded nine kills and eight digs to lead the third-seeded Cardinals in the quarterfinal victory over the sixth-seeded Cubs in the opening round of the SCAA Conference Tournament.

Emma Rinacke added five kills and six digs for Woodland (17-6-2). Mackenzie Altenthal tallied three kills, and Kelsee Long notched five digs and two kills for the Cardinals. Chelsea Cureton provided 27 assists, and Whitney Lincoln contributed eight assists while Madison Cover had seven assists, three digs and two aces.

Bell City fell to 15-10-2 with the loss.

The Cardinals will face second-seeded Bernie in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Thursday. The Mules trounced seventh-seeded Puxico 25-16, 25-10 to advance.

Perryville 25 25, Carbondale (Ill.) 20 20

Senior Ahnie Hoff tallied five kills and five digs as the Pirates downed the visiting Terriers on Senior Night.

Senior Brooke Hogard added four kills and four digs for Perryville (21-10-2). Senior Paige Lewis notched three digs, and senior Kayla Buxton provided 27 assists and two kills for the Pirates.

Carbondale fell to 16-9.

Notre Dame 25 25, Cape Central 7 9

Sam Brennan nailed 12 kills as the Bulldogs held their crosstown rival to single digits to pick up the conference win in straight sets.

Abbie McAlister added eight kills for Notre Dame (23-2-1, 5-0 SEMO Conference). Lexi Welter notched nine digs, and Briley Bieser had eight digs to pace the Bulldogs' defensive effort while Sam Feeney dished out 13 assists and served five aces.

The Tigers fell to 3-18-4 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

JV -- Notre Dame won 25-20, 25-20

Leopold 25 25, Greenville 20 15

Emily Seiler hammered nine kills, served two aces and notched 12 digs to lead the Wildcats in the sweep of the visiting Bears.

Ashley Nussbaum recorded seven blocks and five kills for Leopold (11-12). Patience VanderMierden dished out 15 assists and tallied two digs for the Wildcats.

Greenville dropped to 15-12-1 with the loss.

Oran 25 25, Charleston 15 8

Brianna Stause slammed five kills as the Eagles easily handled the Blue Jays in straight sets to notch the conference win at home.

Erin Schlitt served four aces for Oran (7-12, 2-3 SEMO Conference). Ashlyn McIntosh added three kills and three aces for the Eagles.

Charleston fell to 1-22-1 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

JV -- Oran won 25-14, 25-19

NMCC 25 25, Scott City 14 16

Hannah Shemonia recorded four digs and three kills to pace the Rams in the conference loss on the road to the Eagles.

Bailee Lathum notched four digs and served two aces for Scott City (6-21, 1-6 SEMO Conference).

New Madrid County Central improved to 16-10-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

Eagle Ridge 25 25, Twin City Christian 8 14

Emily Jackson served eight aces and notched four kills to lead the Eagles in the win at home over the Eagles of Twin City Christian Academy of Festus, Missouri.

Aubree Westerfield recorded five kills, three aces and two digs for Eagle Ridge (14-3), while Jessie Gartman added five kills, four digs and two aces. Sarah Jackson tallied three kills and two aces, and Callie Hefner contributed 13 assists, two aces, two kills and two digs for the Eagles.

FALL SOFTBALL

Chaffee 15, East Prairie 1

Julia Sutterfield blasted a home run and got on base four of her five times at bat as the Red Devils wrapped up the regular season by notching their 10th win in the six-inning road rout of the Eagles.

Carleigh Burnett picked up the win in the circle for Chaffee (10-14). She pitched two innings and allowed no runs on one hit. She recorded five strikeouts and no walks.

Bridgette Swinford and Taylor Crites drove in two runs apiece for the Red Devils.

Grace Sutton was tagged with the loss for East Prairie (1-11). She threw a complete game and gave up four earned runs. She had one strikeout and walked none.

Chaffee begins Class 1 District 1 Tournament play at 5:30 p.m. today against second-seeded Naylor in a semifinal at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff.

East Prairie opens Class 2 District 1 Tournament play at 4 p.m. today against third-seeded Saxony Lutheran in a quarterfinal at Portageville High School. The winner will take on second-seeded Kelly immediately afterward in a semifinal.
