ELLSINORE — Senath-Hornersville High School’s Halle Jamerson was the lone medalist from the Delta Dunklin Democrat coverage area to earn a medal at the East Carter Invitational Wednesday.
Thanks to copious amounts of rain that fell during the day, area cross country coaches deemed it a “muddy” track — so running wasn’t easy.
Jamerson, a sophomore, clocked in with a time of 27:50.77. That was good enough for 14th place.
Only the top-15 runners in each division received a medal at this tough meet.
Lily Chandler was 25th, Tanya Martine 28th, Jena Dogan 32nd and Ava Bollinger 33rd as the Lions other counted placements toward a team score.
Hayley Barksdale claimed 34th and Ailani Arenas 39th to round out the Senath-Hornersville girls’ performances. The Lions were fourth overall in the team standings.
Gerardo Castillo was oh-so-close to earning a medal, earning 16th in a time of 22:38.85 in the varsity boys race.
Ricardo Gonzalez was 24th overall, Adyn Goff 28th, Todd Green 40th and Braden Roy 45th as other Lions with a counted team score. Senath-Hornersville boys were fourth.
Campbell took fifth and Kennett was sixth.
Several Campbell runners didn’t compete; however, Clay Huber was the best finisher in 22nd (23:10.16), with Zander Mayberry 26th, Zander Hanners 47th, Phillip Hanners 51st and Adon Lawless 60th.
Kennett’s Kade Anderson had his team’s best finish (30th, 24:25.36), with Dylan Yates 34th, Gabriel Checkett 42nd, Tanner Hansen 53rd, Blaine Roberts 55th and Cash Franklin 64th.
Coming up
Kennett and Senath-Hornersville will both compete in the Farmington Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14, at picturesque Engler Park.
