Chaffee had the first words in its annual football game against Hayti, but the host Indians followed with a long reply Friday night.
Red Devils junior quarterback Jordan Wilburn connected on a 23-yard scoring pass to senior Ryan Lohman midway through the first quarter, but Hayti scored the game's next seven touchdowns in a 46-8 win over Chaffee.
Hayti (2-1) took an 8-6 lead less than three minutes into the second quarter on a 24-yard TD run and a two-point conversion.
The Indians took an 8-6 lead into halftime, then scored off the opening kickoff of the second half. Hayti followed with two rushing touchdowns over the next three minutes to open a 26-6 lead. Sophomore linebacker Brennen Miller closed out the Chaffee scoring with a safety in the period, but the Indians, who had 315 yards rushing on the night, responded with a 25-yard TD run and two-point conversion for a 34-8 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Chaffee (0-3), which committed five turnovers, accumulated 76 yards of offense to 414 yards for Hayti, which had 140 yards in penalties.
Ashlyn Bucher tallied seven kills, five digs and two aces to lead the Wildcats in the road win.
Caitlin Petty recorded four kills, seven assists, five digs and two aces for the unbeaten Wildcats (7-0-2), while Bailee Cope added four kills, five aces and two blocks. Emily Seiler notched eight assists and four digs and Leah Landewee had 10 digs.

Brylee Morse recorded four kills as the host Hornets won in a rout in conference action.
Ashtyn Driskill dished out nine assists for Advance (7-2-1). Strong ace serves helped the Hornets put points on the scoreboard as Maddie Kennedy had five aces and Lexis Garner and Kendra Sokolowski each had three.
Jessie Gartman had seven kills as the host Eagles rolled past Rivers of Life Christian School of Granite City, Ill.
Hannah Petzoldt added three kills and Callie Hefner dished out 10 assists for Eagle Ridge.
Jessie Gartman led with seven kills as the host Eagles fell in their second match to Bethel Christian Academy of South Roxana, Ill.
Noel Friedrich tallied two kills and Callie Hefner had 21 assists for Eagle Ridge.
Shannon Dorris scored the lone goal unassisted as the Bulldogs (3-1) suffered their first loss of the season to the Wildcats in a semifinal of the Notre Dame SoccerFest.
The Eagles fell to 2-3 with the loss in St. Louis, Mo.
