Scott City senior Loren Groves beat her own school records in the shot put and discus as the Rams finished second in both boys and girls divisions during a track and field meet Wednesday at Kelly.

Valle Catholic won both the boys and the girls divisions.

Groves shattered her discus record by almost five feet with a throw of 145-1. Groves' shot throw of 39-0 beat her old record by more than a foot. Groves also won both hurdle events.

Chaffee's Jennifer Vandeven won the 100, 200 and 400. Scott City's Christy Laxton won the 800 and 1,600, and sister Angie Laxton won the 3,200. Chaffee swept the jumping events. Natalie Townsend won the long jump and triple jump, and Amy Holmes won the high jump.

Kelly's Tyson Glaser was the big winner on the boys' side. Glaser won the 100, long jump and triple jump. Teammate Nathan Lewer won the high jump. Scott City took three of the four relay events.

Festus Invitational

Tyler Cuba finished first in the 100 and 200 while teammate Adam Prasanphanich was second in both events to lead Notre Dame's boys to a second-place finish at the Festus Invitational.

Cuba and Prasanphanich also were members of the winning 800 and 400 relays. Cory Beussink also ran both relays; C.J. Harper was on the 800, and Frankie Ellis rounded out the 400. The 800 relay team's time of 1:33.0 was a new school record.

Notre Dame's girls were led by Erin Pfau and Ashley Millham, who both had third-place finishes. Pfau finished third in the 200, and Millham set a school record in the 800 with a 2:34.81. The 400 relay team of Pfau, Amber Karnes, Laura Weissmueller and Emily Bira also set a school record with a 53.06, good for second. The 800 relay team also finished third.

GIRLS SOCCER

Notre Dame 6, Sikeston 0

Katie Palmer recorded her seventh straight shutout and the Bulldogs captured their eighth consecutive victory by romping at home.

Sierra Ellis led the Bulldogs (12-1-1) with two goals. Kristen Boos, Allison Essner, Emily Essner and Jessie Westrich had a goal apiece. Ali Tyson, Boos, Allison Essner, Brittney Little, Sara Berkbigler and Megan Holloway each had an assist.

Notre Dame's junior varsity won 2-0. Mattie Ness and Allison Toole scored the goals. Claire Edwards and Laura Muir combined for the shutout.

Jackson 1, St. Vincent 0, OT

Molly Hartmann headed in a Courtney Urhahn cross five minutes into overtime to give Jackson (13-2) a victory at home.

Whitney Werner made four saves for the shutout. St. Vincent fell to 12-7.

Jackson's JV won 3-1.

BASEBALL

Jackson 8, Poplar Bluff 5

Tyler Profilet was 4-for-4 with two RBIs as Jackson held on to an early lead for a SEMO Conference win on the road.

The Indians (7-8) went up 7-1 after two innings but had to hold off a late Bluff rally. Jackson pounded out 16 hits but left seven runners on base over the final three innings. Trevor Thompson added three hits for Jackson, and Brandon Gendron and Jason Owen had two hits apiece.

Tyler Beussink went 5 1/3 innings for the win. Beussink allowed five runs on five hits. Josh Snell pitched the final 1 2/3 innings for the save.

Leopold 10, Zalma 9

Leopold pitchers walked a combined 14 batters but scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to win at home.

Leopold (6-6) led 9-4 after four innings before allowing Zalma to tie the game with five runs over the next two innings.

Brandon Bueter led off the bottom of the seventh with a single for the Wildcats, stole second and third and was driven home by Kelly Strause for the game-winner.

A.J. Seiler pitched 4 2/3 innings for the win. Seiler struck out eight, walked eight and allowed four hits. Seiler added a triple and three RBIs. Michael Van de Ven and Clayton Jansen had two hits apiece for Leopold.

Steve McCain pitched the whole way for Zalma. McCain struck out 11 and allowed eight hits. Curt Wiseman and Jared Huffman had two hits apiece for Zalma.

SOFTBALL

Chaffee 7-14, Scott City 3-6

Chaffee swept a doubleheader from visiting Scott City and improved to 8-2.

In the 7-3 opener, Abby Walter was the winning pitcher. Scott City's Kristin Schaefer and Lindsay Amick both had three hits.

Whitney Horrell (4-0) won the five-inning finale. Abby Walter had three hits and five RBIs for the Red Devils. Kegan Orr and Mindy Hendrix both added two hits. Ashton Phillips had two hits for the Rams.

GOLF

Poplar Bluff 146, Jackson 148

Jackson's Matt Litzelfelner was the individual medalist at Kimbeland Country Club.

Litzelfelner shot a 32. Eric Fraley (38), Chad Reiminger (39) and Blake McDowell (39) rounded out Jackson's top four. Josh Downey led Poplar Bluff with a 33.

Notre Dame Triangular

Notre Dame finished second among three teams at Bent Creek Golf Course. Kennett was first with 165, followed by Notre Dame (170) and Clearwater (189).

The Bulldogs' were led by Will Lindman (41) and Travis Siebert (41), followed by Adam Rigdon (43), Adam Fenwick (45) and Jonathan Obermark (45).

Central 164, Dexter 168

Todd Obergoenner led the Tigers (14-3) with a 37 at Bent Creek Golf Course.

Blake Driskell (40), Cory Marchbanks (43) and Tyson Seabaugh (44) rounded out Central's top four. Dexter was led by Ryan Jackson's 41.

OTHER EVENTS

Tyler Terry broke Central's school record in the triple jump as the Tigers took second in a junior high track meet. Terry's jump of 39-11 set the new record. Central's Allen Walker won the 100 and 200, Conrad Browne won the pole vault and Tony Preston won the shot put.

Jackson won with 116 points ahead of Central (103) and Poplar Bluff (70).
