The high school boys basketball game between Scott City and Kelly was one of three postponed Tuesday night as friends, students and coaches mourned the death of Keith Anderson.
Anderson died Sunday after an accidental shooting. He was a 1997 graduate of Scott City High School.
"He was a great kid who had a great smile," said Fred Graham, Anderson's high school principal and now the Scott City athletic director. "He was the kind of kid that left an impression on you."
Anderson was an assistant coach of football, boys basketball and baseball at Charleston. Among his survivors is his brother, Brent Anderson, Charleston's head football coach.
The game between Scott City and Kelly will be at 8 p.m. today at Scott City High School. Funeral services will be at St. Joseph Church at 11 a.m. today. Graham said he expects several students and faculty to attend, although classes will be in session.
"Our heart goes out to them, they're a wonderful family," Graham said. "They touched a lot of lives."
Two other games called off Tuesday -- Hayti at Charleston and Sikeston at Oran -- will be played tonight.
