Jackson (5-1) at Poplar Bluff (2-4), 7 p.m.
Last week: Jackson 35, Central 6; Poplar Bluff 28, Farmington 21
Last year's meeting: Poplar Bluff 27, Jackson 14
Notes: Jackson has a chance to win the SEMO North Division title outright with a win on the road. Indians quarterback Joey Starke is coming off a big game, throwing four first-half touchdowns against rival Central. Jason Meystedt and Austin Bock lead Jackson's rushing attack with 422 yards and 386 yards, respectively. The Mules have won two straight games due in large part to the return of running back Todd Tinsley. Poplar Bluff also has a strong quarterback in Mark Gum. All-state kicker Trell Edington will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
Malden (2-4) at Chaffee (0-6), 7 p.m.
Last week: East Prairie 55, Chaffee 28
Last year's meeting: Malden 50, Chaffee 0; Malden 34, Kennett 14
Notes: Chaffee's offense continues to produce more points as the season goes along, scoring a season-high 28 in a loss to East Prairie. The Red Devils have failed to stop many opposing offenses, though, and will likely have trouble against a solid Malden squad.
Perryville (1-5) at Fredericktown (1-5), 7 p.m.
Last week: Potosi 28, Perryville 27; Scott City 42, Fredericktown 12
Last year's meeting: did not meet
Notes: Perryville rebounded from a disappointing loss to Park Hills Central on Oct. 2 to play well in a one-point loss last week. Matt Unterreiner rushed for more than 100 yards behind a re-energized line. The Pirates also used several younger players, finding some positives from their youth. Fredericktown has struggled much of the season, but has a pair of solid backs in Ryan Sawyer and Brandon Brown. Sawyer leads Fredericktown with 661 yards, and Brown has 372.
St. Vincent (5-1) at Maplewood (3-3), 7 p.m.
Last week: St. Vincent 46, Crystal City 6; Maplewood 34, St. Pius 7
Last year's meeting: did not meet
Notes: St. Vincent looks to stay atop the MAFC Blue Division with a win against division newcomer Maplewood. The Indians have allowed only 13 points in three division games, while scoring 126 points on offense. Both teams will feature potent running attacks. Maplewood has three rushers with more than 300 yards, led by Josh Biship's 513.
Saturday
Central (1-5) at Fort Zumwalt North (2-4), 1 p.m.
Last week: Jackson 35, Central 6; St. Charles 22, Fort Zumwalt North 21
Last year's meeting: did not meet
Notes: Central struggled mightily in its rivalry game against Jackson, and will have to regroup with an extra day of practice. Freshman quarterback Garrett Stevens struggled at times against the Indians in his second start, throwing three first-half interceptions. Fort Zumwalt North, coming off another close loss, is led by running back Mike Gladney's 402 rushing yards. Jon Landstra has passed for 462 yards and rushed for 272.
