The Tigers grabbed an 11-point first-quarter lead and held off the hosts in the second half.

Freshman Wendi Zickfield recorded a double-double for Central, scoring 23 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

Christina Sexton added 19 points for the Tigers.

WRESTLING Liberty Tournament

Central had four top-five finishers in the Liberty Tournament near Kansas City on Friday and Saturday.

Chris Griffith placed third in the 112-pound class en route to his 100th career win at Central.

Matt Latham placed fourth in the 125 class, and Tyler Yeargain was fourth in the 130 class. The Tigers' Garrett New finished fifth in the 152 group.

"Overall, the kids didn't do too bad," Central coach Josh Crowell said. "It was a good chance to see the west side of the state that we normally don't get to see."

BOYS SWIMMING Springfield Invitational

Central finished sixth out of 20 teams in the Springfield Invitational.

Jason Mercer finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.24 seconds, and Hunter Givens was fourth in the 100 free in 51.46.

The relay team of Daniel Austin, Peyton Waggener, Mercer and Givens finished fourth in the 200 free relay in 1:34.79 and fifth in the 200 medley relay in 1:46.44.

Central diver Tanner Rust qualified for the state competition with 359.85 points.
