Saint Louis City SC may no longer be perfect in its inaugural season but it still hasn't lost a match on the road.
City SC will look to extend a three-game road winning streak and will be facing a tough challenge against the Seattle Sounders on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Miami Fusion (1998) and Chicago Fire (1998) as one of three expansion teams to record at least three consecutive away wins to start the season. City SC joined the Miami Fusion and Chicago Fire in 1998 as the only expansion teams to win three consecutive road matches to start the season.
As usual, this is the first time these teams clash. The Sounders (4-1-1) have not lost against Western Conference opponents so far this season. Jordan Morris paces the fourth-ranked scoring team in the MLS with eight of the team's goals. Seattle is averaging 2.0 goals, 4.5 shots on goal, and 4.2 corner kicks through six games while allowing 0.5 goals per game.
Saint Louis is 2-1 in games decided by one goal. The last time City SC has given up more than one goal in a match was their first match, a 3-2 win over Austin.
João Klauss leads the offense for City SC with five goals and an assist, while Nicholas Gioacchini has two goals under his belt. After losing to Minnesota United 1-0, Klauss’ streak of having a goal contribution ended after 571 minutes.
Saint Louis is averaging 2.5 goals, 5.8 shots on goal, and 5.7 corner kicks through six games while allowing 0.8 goals per game. Despite the loss, CITY SC still boasts the best goal differential (+10) in the league.
The Sounders are expected to hit to pitch without Dylan Teves, Alex Roldan, and Kelyn Rowe. Saint Louis will likely be without Joakim Nilsson and Rasmus Alm.
