Former Southeast Missouri State golfer Caine Fitzgerald has qualified to participate in the PGA Championship beginning today at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.
Fitzgerald, 39, is an assistant pro at Murphy Creek Golf Course in Aurora, Colo. He qualified for the PGA Championship by finishing in the top 20 at the PGA Professional National Championship held earlier this summer in Sunriver, Ore.
Fitzgerald won the 1994 Ohio Valley Conference championship to earn OVC golfer of the year and all-OVC accolades. He was also all-OVC in 1995 after he finished tied for fourth at the conference tournament.
