PADUCAH, Ky. -- Ford & Sons' Todd Pennington fired a one-hitter in the nightcap of a doubleheader Tuesday as Cape Legion split with Paducah.
After dropping the opener 6-3, Cape Legion (19-17) won the second game 6-0.
Pennington turned in a dominating performance, striking out 12 batters and walking two.
Every Ford & Sons starter had a hit as the squad had nine overall. Scott Reinagel led the way with a two-run double in a three-run second. Cape Legion added a run in the third and two in the seventh.
Paducah scored two runs in each of the first two innings of the opener and never trailed. Ford & Sons pulled to within 4-3 with single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, but Paducah scored two insurance runs in the bottom fo the fifth.
Pennington, Greg Craft and Adam Bertrand all had two hits as Cape Legion had nine overall.
Dustin Glastetter went the distance and suffered the loss. He allowed seven hits, walked three and struck out five.
Cape Legion returns to action today when it Ziegler, Ill., visits Capaha Field for a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
