The Cape Girardeau Ford & Sons American Legion team split two games against Calver City, Ky., on Sunday.

Ford & Sons lost 9-5 in the first game but won the nightcap 10-6.

Sean Bard was 2-for-4 in each game to lead Cape Girardeau (2-5). Bard's two hits in the opener were a double and a home run, as he scored twice and drove in two runs.

However, Calvert City scored nine runs -- four earned -- against losing pitcher Michael Taylor. Taylor struck out five.

In the second game, Cory Huskey pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win. He allowed six runs and struck out seven. Zach Horman finished the game.

Bard drove in three runs in the second game.

Cape juniors split with A-B

The Cape Girardeau Kelso Suppy American Legion junior team scored 20 runs Sunday at Heine Meine Field in Affton, Mo., but came away with a split against Anheueser-Busch of St. Louis.

Cape won 7-4 in the opener. Anthony Wulfers picked up the win and Tyler Bruce recorded the save.

Chris Brotherton, Lance Young, Brad LaBruyere and Bruce each had two hits.

In the nightcap, A-B won 15-13. Bruce took the loss.

David Jackson, Philip Brotherton and Brett Heischmidt each had two hits for Cape (6-4), which hosts De Soto today.
