The Cape Girardeau Ford and Sons American Legion team rolled to a 13-3 victory over host Ballwin on Tuesday night. The game was stopped after seven innings by the 10-run rule.

Trevor Irwin pitched a complete-game five-hitter with two strikeouts and four walks.

Cape (3-3) had 11 hits, with Zac Hudson, Ty Craft, Cory Huskey and Michael Taylor all getting two. Hudson tripled and drove in two runs, while Craft had three RBIs.

A six-run second inning broke a scoreless tie and sent Cape on the way to the easy victory.

Ford and Sons faces District 14 foe Twin Rivers today in a 6 p.m. doubleheader at Capaha Field.

* The Jackson American Legion's doubleheader Tuesday with Dunklin County was postponed by rain. No makeup has been set for the district games.

Late Monday Jackson rallies in nightcap

After dropping the opening game Monday to Cape Girardeau 11-8, Jackson was in danger of dropping the second game before rallying with five runs in the top of the seventh inning in a 7-6 victory.

Tyler Beussink hit a two-out, three-run double to tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh. After a walk to Jason Meystedt, Brandon Gendron delivered a two-run double for the game-winning runs.

Cape Girardeau, which led 5-2 heading into the seventh, scored one run in the bottom of the inning against winning pitcher Tony Longman, who pitched the final three innings for Jackson (6-1).

Scott County splits

The Scott County American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with defending District 14 champion Sikeston on Monday night.

Sikeston won the nine-inning opener 8-6, while Scott County won the nightcap, originally scheduled for seven innings, 6-5 by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning.

In Sikeston's victory, Andy Stephens was the losing pitcher after allowing eight runs in eight innings.

Shane Menz led Scott County with three hits, two runs scored and a run batted in. Danny Wilson had two hits, Matt Seyer had a triple and three RBIs, and Lucas Dirnberger had a double.

In the second game, Menz hit a bases-loaded double to deliver the victory in the 10th.

Russell Carroll was the winning pitcher, allowing one run over four innings. Wilson had pitched the first six innings and allowed four runs.

Chad Friend was 3-for-5, Jason Schenimann was 2-for-4 with a double, and Matt Miller was 2-for-5.
