JACKSON -- In a high-profile high school volleyball match Monday night, Farmington discarded of Jackson with surprising ease, sweeping the Lady Indians 15-3, 15-6.
The loss was just the second of the season for Jackson, which fell to 15-2-1.
Jackson coach Nancy Ellis came away disappointed with her team's performance.
"We played like we didn't want to lose instead of wanting to win," said Ellis. "We came out flat. Farmington is an exceptional team, but I'm sure we could have been a lot more competitive for them."
Andrea Koeper paced Jackson with eight kills and seven digs. Jennifer Mesey added four kills and four digs while Casey Randol had seven assists.
Jackson's JV won 15-11, 11-15, 17-15 to improve to 10-3.
Fredericktown 15-15
Perryville 3-4
FREDERICKTOWN -- The Lady Cats bumped off Perryville in straight sets.
Natalie Bohnert had five service points and two blocks for Perryville (5-11-1) while Nicole Blechle had two kills.
Perryville won the JV match 15-10, 16-14.
VOLLEYBALL
Meadow Heights 15-15
Leopold 11-6
PATTON -- Holly Boyd was deadly with eight kills to lift Meadow Heights to victory.
"We had more intensity then I've ever seen tonight," said Meadow Heights coach Erin Hoffman, who saw her team improve to 9-4. "I think this is a big rivalry and that brought out the intensity."
Emily Heitman and Ashley Brune each had five kills and one stuff block for the Lady Panthers as Jami Fulton served up two aces and added 48 assists.
The JV squad won their match 15-4, 15-8.
Meadow Heights will play at Bell City tonight.
Dexter 15-15
Advance 1-5
DEXTER -- Dexter encountered little resistance in a sweep of Advance.
Heidi Delay had three kills to lead Advance.
Dexter's JV team won 15-0, 15-2.
Woodland 15-15
Notre Dame 7-9
MARBLE HILL -- Danyel Farrell led the Lady Cardinals to victory with nine service points and eight assists.
Jessica Bollinger helped Woodland with five kills and two block kills, and Amanda Jorden and Lilo Whitener each had four kills.
Notre Dame won the JV game 15-7, 7-15, 15-11.
Cape Central 15-15
Bell City 12-8
BELL CITY -- Katie Cozy helped knock out Bell City by pacing the Tigers with eight kills.
"Our mental game came together," said Cape Central coach Debra Spinner. "They were talking to each other and thinking out on the court. That's what led to the victory."
Amber Burke helped the Lady Tigers with two blocks.
Cape Central improved to 3-12-1.
Central's JV squad also won their match 15-9, 15-6.
SOCCER
Jackson 7, Althoff 3
JACKSON -- The Indians' sophomore players made their presence known by scoring six of Jackson's seven goals.
"Some of my young players stepped up and scored," said coach Bonnie Knowlan, "and we've been missing that."
Patrick Kohm led all scorers with three goals and two assists; Michael Schuette kicked in two goals. Matt Gordon and Raju Dirnberger recorded one goal each. Jimmy Sievers and Greg Schwab each chipped in with an assist.
Jackson improved to 6-5-2.
Jackson's JV also won 3-0.
SOFTBALL
Seckman 10, Cape Central 0
ARNOLD -- Seckman broke open a 1-0 game with a seven-run fourth inning in a five-inning victory over Cape Central.
Leading 8-0, Seckman ended the game with two runs in the fifth.
Casi Gross suffered the loss for Central (12-12), allowing six hits and one walk.
Seckman also won the JV contest 8-5.
SOFTBALL
St. Vincent 9, Festus 8
FESTUS -- St. Vincent's starting pitcher, Jessica Kirn, had to be pulled in the first inning due to back spasms, but she came back in the fifth with a winning form and won the game on the road.
St. Vincent's relief pitcher, Stephanie Brown, also had to leave the game due to an ailing knee.
"I'm real proud of these girls," said St. Vincent coach John Lambert,
"Festus is ranked higher than us and I knew it was going to be a tough game, but we didn't give up and pulled out a win with two hurt pitchers."
Festus scored their eight runs on seven hits and six walks. St. Vincent earned its nine runs on ten hits and five walks.
St. Vincent's leading hitters: Amanda Brown, 2-for-3 and three runs scored; Nicole Hadler, 2-for-2 with a home run; and Amanda Richardet, 4-for-4 and two runs scored.
Kelly 8, Notre Dame 1
BENTON -- Kelly's Marissa Essner turned in a dominant performance with 13 strikeouts as the Lady Hawks rolled to victory.
In seven innings of work, Essner gave up one run on five hits and one walk.
Ramona Blankenship picked up the loss for Notre Dame. She pitched six innings, giving up eight runs and 13 hits while striking out two and walking one.
Audrey Burford paced Kelly with three hits. Megan Beggs and Natalie Lewer each added a pair of hits.
Jessica Serratti had two hits for Notre Dame (9-12).

Cape Central 6, Jackson 3
JACKSON -- Cape Central upped its dual record to a perfect 10-0 with a win over rival Jackson.
Cape Central won the JV match 15-1.
