Baseball

Rocco Graziosa, who punched New York Yankees pitcher David Wells during a fight in a Manhattan diner, was granted $10,000 bail Friday while his lawyer appeals his misdemeanor assault conviction.

Colleges

Missouri guard Ricky Clemons was charged with second-degree domestic assault, a day after allegedly choking a woman at his home and preventing her from leaving. Clemons, 22, was freed Friday night on $10,000 bond. Clemons, the second-leading scorer for the No. 11 Tigers, was suspended from the team. He will not play in Missouri's game today at No. 24 Oklahoma State, though it remains unclear how long his suspension might last.

Missouri athletic director Mike Alden has signed a two-year contract extension that will increase his base pay by $10,000 a year, university officials said.

St. Louis coach Brad Soderberg, released from a hospital after being treated for flu-like symptoms, will miss his second straight game when the Billikens play today at Houston, the school said. Soderberg did not accompany the team Friday to Texas. Assistant coach Anthony Beane, who played at Bernie (Mo.) High School and Three Rivers Community College, and was also an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State University, was the acting head coach in Wednesday's 66-56 loss to Cincinnati and again will be in charge during today's game against the Cougars.

Football

Former Rams defensive end James Harris, arrested last summer in a nationwide crackdown on deadbeat parents, has pleaded guilty to a federal misdemeanor charge that he failed to pay $110,000 in child support for his son.

Golf

Aaron Baddeley shot a 6-under 64 to share the lead with Retief Goosen through two rounds of the Sony Open. The 21-year-old Aussie made birdies on three of his last five holes at windy Waialae Country Club and looked like he was ready to live up to the hype he earned by winning the Australian Open twice as a teenager. Ernie Els shot a 65 and was one stroke behind, along with Chris DiMarco (66) and Peter Lonard (65).

Hockey

The Montreal Canadiens fired coach Michel Therrien after hockey's most storied franchise won just two of its last 12 games. He was replaced by Claude Julien, coach of the Canadiens' AHL affiliate. Therrien succeeded Alain Vigneault as coach in November 2000.

Soccer

D.C. United selected Hermann Trophy winner Alecko Eskandarian with the first pick in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Tennis

Serena Williams needed only 46 minutes to beat Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-1, 6-1 and advance to the fourth round of the Australian Open. Kim Clijsters won 6-2, 6-1 in 55 minutes against Tatiana Poutchek. Meanwhile, Marat Safin, last year's runner-up, withdrew with a wrist injury from a fall in his first-round match. The 2000 U.S. Open champion's withdrawal sent No. 31 Rainer Schuettler into the fourth round.
