I WANT to congratulate coach Charlie Vickery and the Red Devils on a great opening win in Chaffee on Aug. 31. You've been working hard and it shows. You make us all proud, win or lose.
Give me Rams
I HAVE seen it all now. In Aug. 31's sports page, you gave the 59-3 losing Redhawks three pages for losing. The St. Louis Rams won the Governor's Cup and Missouri bragging rights and they got an article about the size of a playing card. I guess I have to cancel my subscription to your Redhawk glory rag and get the St. Louis paper.

Royals love
THE TWIN Rivers Lady Royals should be in your Semoball High 5 softball ranking. They were undefeated last spring and were off to a 4-0 start this year with Carlee Vancil pitching a no-hit shutout against East Carter, a no-hitter against Doniphan when she came in to pitch in the fourth inning of a game that went 11 innings, and a one-hitter against Delta and East Carter again.
Overconfidence stinks
WE SEE it every year about this time. Football teams that have been psyched to be invincible. Appalachian State showed Michigan what a I-AA team can do in the right circumstances. I suspect this is what happened to SEMO at Cincinnati. They just took Cincy for granted. After all, it's just Cincy, it's not Ohio State. Hey, you've got to come to play every game.
